What We Do
-
The Counseling Team is here to provide Social and Emotional support to elementary students. Classroom support is provided to educate children on emotional regulation and awareness. Second Step information is listed below to better understand classroom activities. One on one counseling and group services can be provided to students experiencing a situation that warrants crisis intervention and emotional support.
If you are interested in receiving counseling services for your child, please complete the referral sheet and email to one of the counselor’s for review. If you are interested in outside counseling, kindly see list attached for options.
SecondSTEP
-
Based on over 20 years of research and classroom application, the award-winning SecondSTEP program integrates academics with social and emotional learning. SecondSTEP is a classroom based curriculum utilized by Mrs. Casey-Bryant that helps students develop important social and emotional skills. In grades K–5, students practice skills such as making friends, managing emotions, cooperation, respect, and solving problems to set them on the path for social success and academic readiness. Children also learn to recognize and respect people with different backgrounds, perspectives, and ethnicities. These essential life skills will help students in the classroom, on the playground, and at home.
