To steal a line from the TV show The West Wing, the final exchange of the series was a departing President being asked, “What are you thinking about?”  His response, “Tomorrow”.

Our teachers, staff members, support staff, and myself all focus on the tomorrow for our students.  We work to prepare our students for a world, which may be noticeably different from today’s world.

To prepare our students we have created high school programs, which include a wide variety of courses, working to appeal to the needs and interests of our students.   Programs include numerous AP and college-level classes, allowing students to earn college credits while still in HS.  For our students who thrive in the outdoors and nature, our Agriscience classes and connecting FFA, prepares them for furthering their education in this important industry.  As our world becomes more technology driven, our Project Lead the Way courses through RIT introduce our students to this ever growing and changing sector. Sullivan County Career and Technical through BOCES offerings give our students to prepare for the workforce.

Whichever program our students choose to follow are supported by our Counseling Department, who supports both their academic, and social and emotional growth.  Based on the RULER approach from Yale University’s Center for Emotional Intelligence, students learn about emotions, identifying them, and ultimately regulating them.

In addition to our academic offerings, we have an array of clubs and athletic options for our students.  Whether your passion is in art, writing, performance, eSports, or foreign language, there is a club for your interests.  Our athletic teams are mainstays in sectional play, with many of our student-athletes competing after high school.  Please take some time to attend one of our athletic competitions or yearly musical held every March.

I am proud to be the principal of Sullivan West High School.  Our strength comes from our students, staff and of course our community.  I look forward to seeing our students' achievement while they are here, and after they leave our hallways.  I look forward to tomorrow.
