November 14, 2019 Board of Education Meeting Highlights

Mr. Arzilli presented the Board with an update of the Facility Needs Committee meetings on September 24th and November 4.

Mrs. Gaebel provided an update of the NYS School Boards Association convention last month and the resolutions she voted on as the District delegate.

Mrs. Meckle provided an update of the Mid-Hudson School Study Council awards dinner last month, which recognized our Board President, Rose Joyce-Turner, Assistant Superintendent Lorraine Poston, community member Jenn Bernas and Teacher Aide Markao Panava.

The Board adopted a resolution in support of SRP recognition day. The Board acknowledges, with deepest appreciation, the devotion, commitment and concern our school-related professionals exhibit on a regular basis to provide a quality education for the Sullivan West school community.

Mr. Walker and the Board recognized two Elementary Students of the Month, Abigail Haff and Lila Kubenik. Sullivan West Standout, Matt Dirie received a certificate for his outstanding service to our school. Michele Brockner and Tara Brey received certificates in recognition of their achievement in renewing their National Board Certification.

Dr. Bressler shared student data with the Board as part of her Student Achievement Presentation, which may be viewed below.

The Board authorized the following business and finance items: an agreement with Dr. Dorothy Novogrodsky for functional behavior services; correction of errors, judgment; excess High School books and the monetary donation from the Class of 2019.

The Board appointed Kayla O’Dell as the School Social Worker and Jennifer Krzynowek as the High School Art Teacher. Congratulations and welcome!

The Board approved the appointment of substitute personnel, extracurricular and coaching positions and volunteers for the 2019-20 school year.
