January 16, 2020 Board of Education Meeting Highlights

  • Mrs. Meckle provided the Board with an update of the Sullivan County School Board Association Core meeting held on January 6, 2020. 
  • The Board adopted revisions to the following policies:
    • 1510 Regular Board Meetings and Rules
    • 6550 Leaves of Absence
    • 5672 Information Security Breach and Notification
    • 7470 Student Voter Registration and Pre-Registration 
  • The Board recognized Quinn Kean, Elementary Student of the Month and Sullivan West Standout Ann Marie Jones, Teacher Aide. 
  • Abby Gaebel, Nikita Parikh, Owen and Dylan Sager presented the Student Council Report on a proposed trip to Washington D.C. 
  • The Board accepted a donation from Leonard Nelson in memory of his parents to be used for the High School STEM program. 
  • The Board accepted, with regret, the following retirement resignations, effective July 1, 2020: Rossar Reynolds, High School Music Teacher, Karen Kehrley, Elementary Teacher, Catherine Dickey, High School English Teacher, Richard Ellison, Physical Education Teacher, David Franskevicz, Physical Education Teacher and Director of Athletics, Michael Ellmauer, High School Science Teacher and Carol Rotundo, Teaching Assistant. 
  • The Board approved two Memorandums of Agreement with the Western Sullivan United Teachers Union for a one-time retirement incentive and deferral of retirement. 
  • The Board approved appointments for extracurricular positions and substitute personnel.
