Sullivan West Standout Liz Cormier Elementary Teaching Assistant

It is a true pleasure and privilege to recognize our newest Sullivan West Standout, Liz Cormier!  Congratulations, Liz!

Liz has been a part of our District for over 20 years, starting as an Aide and more recently as a Teaching Assistant, where this year she helped support students as part of the Elementary School's Academic Intervention Services (AIS) Math Program.  She shared that she "...loves working with students in their Math groups, and I see when a student understands something that they weren't understanding before.  It's the lightbulb effect!"

Liz was nominated for this recognition by a colleague, who shared "Liz is a true professional.  During our challenging hybrid experience, she has been mastering many new technologies, including creating Bitmoji classrooms and engaging students while 'Zooming' with them and teaching them in person.  She is a treasure for our school!  She takes initiative and is a valuable asset to our programs, students and teachers."

Liz said that she "...tries to make sure that the learning is fun.  We use lots of manipulatives and hands-on work.  It feels like they're playing when the students come work with me, but they're actually learning.  I like the kids and the people that we work with.  Everybody supports everybody else."

When she is not helping students find their "lightbulb" moments, Liz enjoys snowmobiling, Zumba, boating and hiking.

Congratulations and thank you for the great work, Liz!
